Yep, I already have another awesome “About Them” to share with this engagement session, from Karla & Russell.

Karla described herself as a “freakish” morning person and since I had a nonprofit event the evening of their session, we went for a bright and early 8 am session. It was a challenge for me with the hour drive into the countryside near High Springs to their house. I wasn’t sure yet why they wanted to start at their home… then I arrived and realized they lived on a small farm (they might disagree, but I’m sticking with the claim). I was thrilled as I got greeted by four huge dogs (including a German Shepherd named Teebow) and we started our shoot.

With Karla’s favorite horse. :)

You may have guessed by now that they have some affinity for animals. ;) Karla is actually a U.F. student who is on track to go to vet school in a few years, and of course work with some of the big animals she’s already so used to!
To add a funny story: while we were shooting this in the field, I turned around and three cows were just inches from my back, wondering what in the world we were doing. A couple ran off but I was totally being stalked by a friendly gray cow and she kept getting in the way as we were trying to shoot these images with the horse! Ahhh, the adventures!

On our way to the next location, we just HAD to stop at these gorgeous wildflowers:

And for the last location: The Springs! I think Karla and Russell enjoyed this more than my previous Springs couples since I decided to get in too with my new protective housing (big plastic bag style, i.e. Ewa-Marine case). Karla got to feel much better seeing me squeal at the cold as much as she did. ;)

You can just BARELY see it, but this one cracks me up because this dragonfly kept landing on Russell’s nose!

Now this last one is just for fun. After our two hour session, I asked if they wanted to mess around more underwater with the housing with no guarantees since it was my first time shooting underwater. Russell was my official housing tightener and losener for adjustments, haha.
Note: next time I need goggles and possibly a snorkel because that cold water just makes me lose my breath a bit every time I go under!
Anyway, enjoy our fun underwater image, complete with fish:
