Why be upset when it rains on your wedding day?

You’ll have to come back soon to see the rest!
This is just a quick post as I work on some recent weddings… even though it is incredibly time-consuming, I LOVE editing. It’s really exciting to flip between the original image and the fully edited one to see what I can do with some Lightroom and Photoshop work. I thought my blog readers would be interested in a fun before and after. I think you can guess which is which. :)

Taryn and Jaya had a beautiful Ceremony a couple weeks ago… I actually had this up on Facebook nearly a week ago, but writing a blog post takes a while. If you want to get even faster updates, you should definitely head over and become a Fan on Facebook so you can see the really quick previews. :)
So, back to talking about this gorgeous wedding! Taryn is a very laid-back hippie personality (yes, she said I’m allowed to call her a hippie). So the morning was very relaxed, and we were late, but no one was stressed out at all… which I loved!
I started off at Jaya’s parent’s house with his family, hanging out and documenting some of their day.

The groom’s father used to have a restaurant in NYC and also lived in India for years- the whole family is vegetarian and he was making some tofu “scrambled eggs” while explaining the process. It was really quite fascinating!

Next, I met up with Taryn at an adorable salon in downtown Alachua, “Lineless Tanning.” From the name, I wasn’t expecting to walk into a gorgeous boutique! The owner is a beautiful young lady who has done all of the decorating and ideas herself as well!

And I have to note here that Taryn and her bridesmaids made their bouquets themselves. I rarely see people that do it themselves use such a creative combination like they did with bold choices and colors! There will be another gorgeous bouquet shot coming up soon. :)

And now, on to the Ceremony! Taryn had asked me what time of day to schedule the Ceremony for the best light since it was going to be outside under a huge Oak tree. So we planned accordingly and I just LOVE when brides take lighting into account. You are about to see why!

And of course when you plan well for light, you end up with equally (or even more) DELICIOUS lighting for your bridal portraits and portraits with your new husband afterwards. I get SO excited looking at the gorgeous light falling in the trees behind them in these images!

Here is that promised bouquet shot again. :)

Then we went on to the reception at the Turkey Creek Country Club...where there were some exquisite details as well- such as this cake topper which seemed to perfectly mimic the flow and design of Taryn’s dress.

Taryn also had an awesome surprise groom’s cake for Jaya with a custom Xbox. Jaya was in the military, thus the symbol… and she even thought to add part of the “red circle of death” since that had happened to Jaya’s own Xbox just months before! His reaction was hilarious! :)

Maid of Honor speech:

I’ve worked with the wonderful DJs from Innovative Entertainment a couple times, and they go around the room and give other guests an opportunity to say something to the bride and groom. It’s actually very touching to hear from some guests, especially grandparents, who don’t normally give speeches during the Reception.

Another special little part of the wedding was that it was Taryn’s little sister’s 17th birthday…so she surprised her with a little cake of her own!

If you know Taryn and Jaya and would like to be notified when their images are ready, go to clients.purebylindsey.com, select their wedding, enter your email, and I’ll send out a notification when the images are available!
Coming soon(ish).

Tracey and Matt are an amazingly sweet and funny couple… and disgustingly good looking! I have the pleasure of really getting to know my couples through the consultation, engagement session, emails throughout the year or so after they booked me, until the wedding. It’s always such a pleasure to see them so incredibly happy on their wedding day. Everything on May 1st was absolutely PERFECT for Tracey and Matthew.
Their wedding was at the brand new Asian Fusion Holiday Inn. They assured me it would be incredibly cool, and it was! Everything you see here was done inside or right outside of the Inn! And I do have to mention here before you see the absolutely perfect wedding day that the wedding planner/coordinator was the wonderful Melissa at MasterPiece Weddings. I was also able to have Mike Richards join me for the day as my second photographer.
The Preparation:

Hot pink ties on men? Hot!

The Gorgeous Bride, Tracey:

By the way, I LOVE this hot trend of wearing colored shoes. As you see, having some bright accessories in the wedding attire looks absolutely modern, haute, chic… and every other great adjective I could possibly think of!

Then Mike snuck off without me and got this awesome shot of the guys:

The Bling:

Asian Fusion-themed hotel = FROGS to use for props! How awesome!

The Ceremony:
I have to take a moment here to talk about how freaking awesome Melissa, their coordinator, is! She starts off as a hired wedding coordinator… and she has several times (that I know of) ended up being the officiant at the wedding. As the wedding approached, Tracey and Matt decided she was such an awesome friend at that point that they wanted her to officiate. It was so sweet- and of course she does an amazing job!

Portrait Time:
We had about an hour after the Ceremony to do group images and then get some of the bridal party and bride and groom… so we definitely utilized as much as we could! :)

Had to get a couple sexy elevator shots as all the guests gawked:

The Showstopper, The Reception:
Pink lighting. Really. It was AMAZING. They set up pink spotlights on the walls all around the room, which already had some gorgeous chandeliers. There were also videographers from CollabCreation who were using some awesome video lights that I got to use as backlights… I need to get one of these for myself!
The cake was by the uber-talented Kristy of Posh Pastry. Her cakes always amaze me with their absolute chic style. Even if cakes have a similar concept, some artists just have that way of making it look so perfectly aesthetic. The flower was, of course, sugar/icing/something yummy!

This is one of my new favorite images EVER! I just LOVE her expression, the whole crowd, Tracey, everything in this image!

And, just for fun, a behind-the-scenes shot, of course by Mike. I look SO excited about what I am seeing through that viewfinder!
