Kelli & Jeff had such a relaxing Jacksonville wedding with tons of time for their First Look and portraits– so exciting! I just love it when couples take all their photo time into account, as we’re able to do so much more creative ideas. I was exceptionally grateful for the time since I actually shot this with the flu. Thank goodness for Jemma who came to second shoot and mother me all day!

So these shoes… Kelli’s bridesmaid Allie actually hand-glued over EIGHT HUNDRED little crystals onto the heels! Aren’t they incredible?!

Remember not to make the bride cry once her makeup is done. ;)

From last weekend’s wedding.

I just LOVED this insightful posts for brides made on Style Me Pretty by Christian Oth on “working with a wedding photographer.”
In essence he discusses the relationship aspect of wedding photography and how the photographer really knowing the couple and their style, approach, and what they want will make the day so much better of a creative process and have beautiful, personal results.
At the end, he answers “how do we handle this at my studio?”
For how I handle it: I always suggest clients come to meet before booking so we can start getting to know each other and getting a feel for each others’ approach and style. It’s always so exciting to talk to new couples and hear about their vision for their wedding, and how their relationship led and contributed to that. Of course then we have emails planning the engagement session, wedding, chatting on facebook or twitter, and shooting the engagement and possibly boudoir… by the time a year or so has passed with so much communication I often have guests asking how I knew the bride and groom. It makes the weddings so much more emotional to me when I understand the clients so well.
So click the screenshot below and head over to Style Me Pretty to read the article and keep it in mind when you’re searching, brides. Keep the dialogue going with your photographer!
